Bioshock Big Daddy costume / replica - eBay (item 180436488073 end time Dec-03-09 09:20:14 PST)
And… you can buy the suit on eBay. From the eBay post:
Notable features of the suit:For those interested in purchasing this suit to wear it to conventions/parties/etc, please read the following:
- The shoes on the suit provide the wearer with 6.5” of lift. The suit (when I wear it) is close to 7’ tall.
- A hiking backpack provides the interior support and holds the main body in place.
- The drill arm does function. It is powered by a 12V DeWalt drill built into the arm. You will need to provide your own battery for the drill, however.
- There are 4 fans built into the suit for cooling. These run off of 2 9V batteries housed inside the suit
- The LEDs on the dome can be switched on/off via an internal button-switch. These are also powered by one of the 9V batteries
- The left arm has controls built in for moving the fingers and thumb. These are rudimentary, but provide some movement. You can’t pick up a beer, but you can almost flip someone off.
- The entire suit breaks down into several parts which fit into a large SUV.
- The suit weighs around 50-60lbs total with all accessories attached.
- It is not a comfortable piece to wear when both arms are attached. Most notable is the drill arm, which has a functioning drill built into it. Personally, I was able to wear the suit for 30-45 minutes with all accessories attached. When walking somewhere, its best to have handlers remove and carry the arms for you. In doing this, it becomes much more comfortable.
- I made the suit to fit me specifically. I am 5’8” tall and weigh 135lbs. I wear a size 9.5 shoe, and have a 30” waist. These last two measurements are important because of how the interior rigging fits, and how the shoes are built. If you’re 6’5” tall and wear a size 12 shoe, this won’t fit you.
- The interior of the suit is bare-bones, unfinished. This is primarily for weight savings.
- With the diffusion panels over the port holes and the LEDs illuminated, you are effectively blind when wearing the suit. The diffusion panels can be removed though, if you would like your vision unobstructed.
- You will need at least one other person to help you put the suit on. Two are recommended, but not necessary.
- Its difficult, though not impossible, to fit into a hotel elevator.
- The pants and sleeves are built into the costume, and are not removable.
- Walking anywhere in this suit is very difficult, due to the massive crowds of people which will be asking for photographs. Just kick the drill arm on and keep walking; they’ll move.
